Nephew of Walt Disney’s, Roy Edward Disney, died at age 79, in a California Hospital. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer a year ago, and since then he tried to beat the cancer but taking in consideration his age, and his physical health status it was hard for him to battle the stomach cancer.
Founded in 1923, Disney Entertainment Group was realized by Roy O. Disney, to be more exact, Roy Disney’s father, His Father was the co-founder of Disney entertainment. Mr. Roy Disney was born in 1930 but he only entered in the showbiz industry at age 22 as an assistant film editor for the “Dragnet “television series.
He attended Harvard University, at Pomona College. He was also a competitive sailor, his passion were offshore racing.
Mr. Disney was twice nominated for an Oscar. First he was nominated for the short film” Mysteries of the Deep” in 1959 and the second time he was nominated for the production of “ Destino” which was a movie based on the legendary painter Salvador Dali, in 2003.
Shamrock Holdings is the investments company developed by Mr. Disney in 1978. Mr. Disney was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2008. Stomach cancer can be also called peritoneal cancer and this type of cancer which is very rare. Sometimes can be caused by exposure to asbestos fibers.
Once the contact with asbestos contaminated air or materials is done, fibers of asbestos mineral can be inhaled or swallowed and after that they can get to peritoneum, the lining of the stomach, spreading allover the stomach causing cancer.
It is well known that this type of cancer is very hard to treat, it takes time and aggressive therapies must be done.
Some mesothelioma patients can respond to the palliative treatments, but some other not. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy are the most common ways of treating the mestohelioma cancer.

Mr. Disney died at age 79 from stomach cancer. A private funeral will be held for Mr. Roy Disney.
