Beloved City Leader - Mesothelioma Claims Life

The beloved city leader John McTaggart had served, for about two decades, Rancho Palos Verde, California, acting as mayor for four times and also as a city councilman. City leader John McTaggart was 79 years at the time of his dead. He died because he developed mesothelioma cancer, which is a form of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos fibers.

In April 2007 he was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer. Specialists and doctors say that within 24 months form the diagnosed, cancer claims its victims.

In John McTaggrat case, doctors said dad is more probably that mesothelioma cancer will claim after 30 months.

McTaggart widow is talking about the chemotherapies and the radiation therapies that John has followed, to fight back the cancer.

He tried both therapies combined with special medication and nutrition.

His widow says:” he fought against mesothelioma cancer with an upbeat attitude …He live with it and functioned very well, to the point that we became kind of complacent, He is just going to live on forever…Then suddenly we got hit by this”.

Former mayor Barbara Ferraro said “he really was Mr. RPV. He was such a nice and fine person and he always had the best interest of the people at heart”.

Mayor Larry Clark said that John McTaggart was always enthusiastic about projects and initiatives, a real player and a much loved person in Rancho Palos Verde. Clark also said he that the day of his death was a very sad day for everybody.
