California lawsuit, mesothelioma verdict

The California mesothelioma lawsuit against Georgia Pacific, indented by o woman who contracted mesothelioma cancer, an asbestos related disease, by exposing herself to the presence of the asbestos in her home remodeling business, have been judged by the California Appeals Court, which has upheld the verdict in this mesothelioma lawsuit, resulted with $ 6,2 million judgments for Joan Mahoney.

In March 2008, a Superior Court Jury in San Francisco, the decision affirms the mesothelioma verdict returned in Favor of Joan Mahoney and her husband.

Mahoney contracted mesothelioma by exposure to materials and products containing asbestos, a mineral which is very dangerous and if it gets inhaled or swallowed can cause malignant mesothelioma cancer. Materials and products, used in their home remodeling business, were provided by Georgia Pacific.

Joan Mahoney is a former actress and singer. From 1970 true 1990 she and her husband run a home remodeling business, and after couple of years, in 2006 to be more specific she was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer.

At the trial one of the most important evidence presented, was used to establish that, Georgia Pacific was aware of the danger caused by exposure to the asbestos but they still had their products running until the government has established that asbestos is a natural danger and the main cause of the mesothelioma cancer, and banned the asbestos usage.

The California asbestos lawsuit found Georgia Pacific Corporation 30% responsible for Joan Mahoney illness, and the company was order to pay $6, 2 million.

In the last century, asbestos was widely used in constructions because of his specific proprieties, but it has been banned in early `80. Although people who have been exposed at their work place to the asbestos is more probably that they will develop mesothelioma cancer at some point in their life.

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that, first, affects the lung and after that, if left untreated it will spread in to all body internal organs. If diagnosed in time, mesothelioma cancer can be treated.
